Phoenix Loss Prevention

Case Study

A case involving Investigations and Consulting.

Situation:

A major pharmaceutical company, with distribution facilities nationwide providing pharmaceuticals, over the counter products and medical supplies to hospitals and drug store chains, contacted Phoenix Loss Prevention for assistance. Executives considered losses at several facilities unacceptably high.

Critical Issues:

Losses at distribution facilities were being caused by a variety of unclear factors. Executives suspected shrinkage was the result of unacceptable activities including employee theft, illegal drug abuse and low productivity. Internal resources were not capable of identifying abuses in a timely manner.

Solution:

Executives needed a way to accurately identify individuals responsible for loss at each facility. They needed to differentiate between violators and valuable employees with minimal disruption to normal operations.

Phoenix ran undercover investigations at each facility involved. Phoenix also conducted interviews with specific employees identified during investigations. The undercover investigations and interviews enabled executives to achieve their goals.

Results:

Information gathered through Phoenix's undercover operations and interviews facilitated appropriate disciplinary actions. Executives saw a quick reduction in loss as well as an increase in morale and productivity.

Executives responded by requesting Phoenix's Security Consultants develop methods to maintain decreased loss and higher productivity. Phoenix developed a plan that included background verifications and periodic facility security risk assessments.

These two proactive programs weeded out undesirable applicants and ensured effective security programs were in place. More qualified workers were hired further increasing productivity. Facility assessments provided programs that maintained corporate security standards and continued the reduction of shrinkage.
